A Slight Delay
Sat, May 24, 2003 19:48, posted by: Darth Maul
This is to everyone that submitted something (drawings, files, websites etc) to us the last 2-3 months. Currently, we have about 12 items still sitting on our harddisks ready to be put online. Since we are also working around the clock with a bunch of new pages, features and a new layout, a huge and long queue has formed. Eventually we will get everything online, it'll just take a bit longer than we initially aimed for. But please don't let that stop you from sending us anything. Please accept our sincerest apologies for this delay. If you have any ideas concerning this site (including the upcoming downloads page), please feel free to post them in the suggestion page of our forums.

It is however not certain if they are also selling JP toys, but at these almost for nothing prices, it's certainly worth checking out your nearest stores. Happy hunting!!!

Interesting Ebay Auctions
Tue, May 13, 2003 21:55, posted by: Darth Maul
I was browsing Ebay when i found a couple VERY interesting auctions. The lots have already been ended and unfortunately we didn't win any of them (so no detailed pics :( ). BUT, they can still be viewed and that is the most interesting part. Each of the following auctions feature a Hasbro/Kenner TLW toy in mock-up packaging. These were all made in order to finalize the final packaging needed for a toy. Which pictures and what text should be used, the most attractive way to center around the toy etc. Please click on the links below to view the auctions.

- Dino Tracker Adventure Set
- Medical Center w/Battle Ravaged Allosaurus
- Mobile Command Center vehicle/playset

In case you wish to see more prototypes or mock-ups, please view our prototypes page. If you have any interesting news for us, let us know!!!

Cheap TLW/CE Toys!!!
Sat, May 10, 2003 0:53, posted by: Darth Maul
Great news for the collectors in The Netherlands! Currently, all Blokker stores with a toy department are selling several TLW and Chaos Effect figures at very low prices. For only €3.99/$4.50 each one or more of these can be yours!!! I've been to several stores and found the TLW figures Dieter Stark, Roland Tembo, Nick Van Owen w/cap, Ian Malcolm and the Junior T.Rex. As far as CE goes, only the Alpha Raptor and the Lynx were found - and only one store in my area had them, so these could be very scarce. JP3 Re-Ak-A-Tak's can also be found but will be hard to come by since most of this stock has sold out already.

If you are also into Star Wars, you'll be happy to know that they are also selling off a couple different Saga figures. I've seen Mace Windu Geonosian Rescue, Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter Pilot, Chewbacca Cloud City Capture, Darth Vader Bespin Duel, Han Solo Endor Raid, Jango Fett Final Battle and the deluxe figures Anakin Skywalker w/Geonosian Warrior and the electronic Nexu on the shelves. Basic figs are €3.99/$4.50 and deluxe €4.99/$5.70. The music store Diskoland is also offering several Star Wars items up for sale, including deluxe Saga figs for €6,- /$6.90, the Episode II Monopoly boardgame for €20/$22.98 and most surpisingly they also have the first wave of Saga Action Fleet vehicles (Falcon, Vader's TIE and the X-Wing) for a mere €7.99/$9.20.

No word yet if Blokker stores in the rest of the Benelux are offering these as well. If you happen to know more, please drop us an e-mail right here. If you found some deals at your nearest store (country doesn't matter), let us know as well.

Happy hunting!!!

Keira Knightley in JPIV?
Mon, May 5, 2003 19:39, posted by: Darth Maul
Countingdown.com has a scoop about a possible new cast member to join the JP4 crew. Here's the article (thx to Oviraptor!):

"I was one of the many tireless runners lucky enough to be working on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean. Shooting was completed several weeks ago, and I wanted to share a little bit of goss that I was privy to. As you may or may not be aware, some of 'Pirates' was filmed in Los Angeles, California. While we were there, Keira Knightley took half a day off to meet with Steven Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy. Word going around the set was that she is being considered for a role in the upcoming Jurassic Park film, and that Spielberg just wanted to have a casual meeting with her first. Keira later confirmed that the meeting was indeed regarding JPIV, and she might play the granddaughter of the Richard Attenborough character. She said there was no actual agreement made, but Spielberg definitely has her under consideration.

That's all I have! Don’t forget to check out Pirates of the Caribbean, will you? Trust me, you’ll love it. ;)

Thanks for the cool scoop, 'Andrew'. Pirates of the Caribbean will be released on July 9th".

If you are wondering who this is - after reading this article, click here to view her bio and filmography. We also obtained two pictures of this beautiful actress. Please click here and here. More news soon!!!

Operation Genesis Review
Tue, April 8, 2003 22:06, posted by Razzie
This game frickin' ROCKS, Zoo Tycoon JP rip-off eat my dust!! The tagline on the box (Dream it. Build it. Survive it) gives you a hint for what's coming but of course this is a 'Sim' game so it's completely up to you. The idea is to start up Jurassic Park, hatch your first dinosaur and open to the public. All Visitors enter and leave through the Main Gate / Visitor Centre building so make sure you don't put it miles away from the action. You need to entertain Visitors from four categories - Fun Lovers, Mainstream, Dino Nerds and Thrill Seekers.

As your Park gets more popular your Star Rating increases allowing you to open more Dig Sites and buy more Fossil Digging Teams. Everything they find can either be added to your Park or sold on the Fossil Market so look out for Gold, Silver and Opal (you can also buy items from the Fossil Market). More stars = more Visitors so be prepared! Clicking on a Visitor or dinosaur brings up a little
comment box showing exactly what they're thinking so you can act on it (or not).

I've only had my copy a few hours but already 2 things have become obvious. A) Twisters / Thunderstorms will TOTALLY NUKE your Park, so find that Save Game button and use it! B) We're all familiar with the JP fences but this needs the
right type of fence for the job. It took my Acrocanthosaurus about 20 milliseconds to figure out how to kick over his Minimum Security fence and start eating...

I'm ashamed to say this but I wasn't expecting much from OG, it's been almost 2 years since a movie and most of the original JP fans have grown out of it. Therefore Universal and Blue Tongue (the developers) didn't have to aim very
high, and all the stores only had 2 or 3 copies each.

Oh how wrong I was! This baby is totally addictive and immersive. Everything that happens affects something else, such as an increase in the price of an attraction. The increase makes that particular attraction less popular, another one more popular and the Visitors start crowding in odd places whingeing about the prices and leaving! Another clever idea is that you can ride / use your own
attractions.

The Visitors LOOK very similar but they ACT and THINK very differently. There are no human families in Jurassic Park which seems strange but you can end up with dinosaur families (herds) including pack leaders and lower-ranking members. The dinosaurs come in a massive range of species including the movie favourites and others you won't recognise, each with cool textures and fantastic sounds /
animation.

The biggest problem I have with OG is the same problem everyone has - it absolutely thrashes the life out of your video card and processor so make damn sure you read the System Requirements on the box before you even think of
picking it off the shelf. In empty areas you'll be OK but as soon as your Park starts filling up don't be surprised if you need to alter the video settings for textures and
details.

One more bad point - no on-screen help actually setting up your Park or running it in the early days. Your Staff will tell you if they spot a problem but they won't tell you how to fix it.

Good points -
Immersive and realistic gameplay, high-quality Surround
Sound soundtrack and effects, amazing details on authentic
models, smart AI and knock-on effects, helpful hints from
all Staff, easy to build and start your Park. Best Bit -
Stalking a Visitor while he tried to run away from that
*issed off Acrocanthosaurus!

Bad points -
Irritating video, when it goes wrong it all happens AT THE
SAME TIME, the first few plays are tricky until you get the
hang of all the things you can do and the buttons to do
them with. Worst Bit - Nobody told me the twister would do
THAT much damage!!

JP4 Plot Revealed?
Thu, January 30, 2003 22:15, posted by: Darth Maul
DarkHorizons.com has posted up a rumour about the plot of the upcoming JP4 movie. One of the site's readers,'Steel Maverick', sent in the following information:

"I just wanted to pass along to you some interesting tid-bits I learned about the fourth Jurassic Park movie (I'm a big fan) whilst visiting the Amblin offices. They were tight-lipped about the big details, but I managed to get some VERY cool goodies for you all:

12 years after the first movie, John Hammond's dinosaurs have apparently become urban legend. Most of the public has become skeptical they ever existed. Part of the plot involves the discovery of previously unidentified lizard-like animals showing up on mainland Costa Rica and conflicting with the locals (killing them?). To find out what the heck is going on, a team of experts chart an expedition to one of the off-shore islands. They find out the dinosaurs are thriving and breeding at an uncontrollable rate, so much so that it poses a threat to the nearby continent. They must find a way to curb the spread of the dinos or face an ecological disaster.

I want to make clear that is not the WHOLE story. There is apparently some top-secret aspect of the plot that they refused to even hint to me. They only said that Spielberg was "delighted" with it. In Michael Crichton's novel The Lost World it was discovered that the dinosaurs have been accidentally infected by a disease code-named DX by InGen. Expect this concept to be carried over to JPIV. They don't end up sending in the military to bomb the place, because in time, DX will prevent the dino's continued existence. This leads me to believe JPIV will probably be the last one.

Spielberg is indeed looking to get Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum back on board as part of the "team of experts." I asked eveyone I could if they knew of Richard Attenborough's involvement, but nobody knew "at this stage." I got the impression that everyone is feeling JPIV will turn out to be something quite special, more an intelligent thriller in the vein of the original (which would REALLY be cool!)"

Sounds great, but please remember this is not set in stone, so take it with a grain of salt. If you happen to find any JP4 rumours or info online, let us know!

Cheap Raptor Attack Playset
Thu, January 30, 2003 22:12, posted by: Razzie
On Saturday I got an e-mail from another UK JP collector that he had bought a RAP playset for £4.99 from his local Tesco store. He never lies so I set off for my own Tesco store to see if I could score too. When I got there I saw several RAPs on the top shelf, reduced from £19.99 to £9.99. I figured that perhaps my store wasn't selling them for £4.99 after all but what the Hell, I wanted one!

I asked someone else to pick one off the shelf and took it to the tills. On the way I picked up some other supplies and when the cashier read out the final price it was
exactly £5.00 lower than it should have been.

Once outside I checked my receipt and there it was in writing - my new addition was £4.99!!! Go check your local Tesco if you need this set!

Four-Winged Dinosaur Discovered!!!
Wed, January 29, 2003 0:32, posted by: Darth Maul
Chinese scientists, made an astounding discovery in the northeast of their country. The fossil of Microraptor gui, sports a fully feathered body and wings on each of his four limbs. The nearly 3 foot (1 metre) long and 125 million year old Dinosaur, reveals information to us of how the evolution of flight occured. According to lead paleontologist Dr. Xu Xing, "Dinosaurs first mastered glide by making optimal use of gravity, before they learned to flap their wings". Notable in support of the glide theory is the fact that it's wings were all asymmetrical, which is a requirement to provide flight. Xu also told gliding was the creatures only option of transportation, since the wings on all limbs severely limited it from running.

JP4 Plotlines & Cast
Tue, January 21, 2003 2:04, posted by: Darth Maul
The last issue of Hollywood Exclusive magazine, "The Buzz" has some interesting info on the fourth installment of the JP series. In a recent interview, Sam Neill (Grant) told the magazine that the story had something to do with a massive outbreak of Dinosaurs on the mainland. Sam commented

"this is not official as of yet, but for all the possible concepts that have been made for this movie, I can honestly say this one is possibly my favorite."

The mag also clears up some of the cast rumours:

"Well, it looks like all those rumors about Vince Vaughn reprising his role as Nick Van Owen, the activist photographer from The Lost World and playing the lead role in Jurassic Park 4 can finally be put to rest. At a recent press release in Hollywood this past Thursday," Universal spokesperson Jayson Patterson finally put the rumor down saying that: "Despite all the rumors regarding Vince Vaughn returning in Jurassic Park 4, the rumors are untrue, not only will Vince not be returning, but he was never even considered for the film and was never approached."

More news as it comes in. Thanks to JPDatabase!!!

Toyline Dropped?

As reported on several other collecting sites, Hasbro has dropped the Jurassic Park line. While this sounds as very bad news, i would like to stress that this doesn't mean there won't be any toys in the future. By the looks of it, Hasbro just put their JP license on ice for the time being and will almost certainly pick it up again with the release of the upcoming Jurassic Park 4. So don't worry people, all is not lost. Talking about toys, we'll have some very cool new features coming. Stay tuned for a preview of what's to come this week.

Goldblum in JP4

Cinemania Magazine had an interview with actor Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), in which they talk about JP4. Although only small fragments were available online, Countingdown.com has now managed to get the entire transcript. Here's a snippet:

"I have to admit I was instantly taken with his vision for the movie. Completely ingenious, and totally wonderful. It puts such a clever spin on the whole thing, while at the same time returning to the scientific intrigue and fascination of the first film. "

Jeff also adds that, whenever Steven Spielberg needs his services, he'll be available to reprise his role in the upcoming JP4 flick. Surely good news for all fans alike.

Operation Genesis News
Sun, January 12, 2003 19:13, posted by: Darth Maul
Another preview has popped-up online. This time around it's the good people over at GameSpot.com that got a chance to get a glimpse of this upcoming game. Although they are very positive about it, they do mention a slight graphical problem, which is also addressed by the February issue of the Official Xbox Magazine. They write:

"Draw-in on an Xbox game? Unforgivable. We honestly don't understand how a game of this graphical simplicity could possibly have trouble drawing a 3D island on the Xbox without entire chunks of the terrain popping up at the last second."

Both are however confident this glitch will be taken care of before the title goes gold. Operation Genesis ships March 25 and will be available on PC, PS2 and Microsoft's Xbox. Click here to read the preview on GameSpot.com and don't forget to check out three pages of awesome new pictures!!! "It was a tricky movie to make because half the time the dinosaurs were there and you had 15 guys working them. One doing the tongue, the blinking, all the different bits so that for all the worldyou felt there was a dinosaur there. But for the other half the time there was just some guy there off camera with a long stick with a dinosaur's picture stuck on it so we'd know where to look ang go 'Arrrgh' at."

Originally in the T Rex attack they had Jeff running away from the dinosaur, like the other guy who gets eaten in the toilet. "But I said, 'Please Steven', to Steven Spielberg and we did this different version were I got to be heroic."

Crichton and JP4
Tue, November 26, 2002 22:35, posted by: Darth Maul
In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly Jurassic Park and newly released "Prey" author Michael Crichton said, "Steven [Spielberg] called me up a few days ago to tell me that a JP4 is definitely in the works."

Does this mean we are getting closer to hearing an official announcement from
Universal? Sure sounds like it! He also added:

MC: To be honest with you, Universal and Amblin didn't quite keep me "up to date" when they did Jurassic Park 3 (I haven't even seen the film yet).
EW: (laughs) It's been out for more than a year.
MC: How did it do box office-wise?
EW: Really good actually.

In other "Prey" news, the New York Times Book Review has posted their take on the new novel, calling it "irresistibly suspenseful" and "cinematically scary."

No Horner For JP4
Thu, November 21, 2002 22:32, posted by: Darth Maul
AICN reports that paleontologist and Dino advisor Jack Horner, will not be involved with JP4, in the way he did with the previous movies. According to Moriarty from AICN, Horner said:

"I suspect it is going to veer off in a direction that is a bit less scientific," Horner told a group of students attending a lecture at the University of Texas, "So I'll probably only work on it for a little bit."

A mysterious source also reports that Sam Neill's character is not involved in the current JP4 script, since it "involves the United Nations, and the extermination of the dinosaurs." Sounds like someone has too much imagination.

Jeff Talks JP4!!!
Sat, November 16, 2002 22:35, posted by: Darth Maul
The Hollywood Reporter recently interviewed JP and TLW star Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm). During the interview, the site also asked about his and Sam Neill's involvement in the next JP movie. Here what he had to say:

Hollywood Reporter: Sam Neill has already hinted that there is a good chance he'll be returning in Jurassic Park 4, can you give us the same hint?

Jeff Goldblum: "I will say that, like Sam, I do have a very good chance to be returning in JP4. I hope I do, it was great working with Steven in the last two and I would love to do it again."

HR: "What has been happening in regards to the stage of the film?
''
JG: "Well, the film is still in the drawing board stage and Steven and Mr. Moehan are busy writing the script prepping it to make sure it is perfect."

HR: "You have seen a small amount of the script, what was your reaction to it?"

JG: "I was literally left speechless. Of the small part I saw I couldn't believe it, I didn't think it was possible to top the other three films, but believe me, it sure as heck looks like it will. It takes a more sci-fi approach with some science thrown in to make it more enjoyable."

HR: ''What about the dinosaurs?''
JG: "Of course there'll be dinosaurs. Steven has told me that my old nemesis, the T-rex (he laughs at the injury his character sustained in the first film), wil be back, possibly along with the Dilophosaur, that venom spitting one and get this, maybe even a water dino, a Mososaur, or something like that."

HR: ''Has any other actor from the other JP films signed on to JP4?''
JG: "Not as of now, Universal wants Vince Vaughn (Nick Van Owen) to return in this film and Cameron Thor (Lewis Dodgson) might even be amongst the cast."

Operation Genesis Preview
Thu, November 7, 2002 0:58, posted by: Darth Maul
GameSpot.com takes a look at this upcoming game. Besides that, they also put up a total of 24 new screenshots, which are a must see. Here's a snippet from the article:

"In addition to simply building and maintaining various structures in Operation Genesis, you'll also be able to take control of a number of vehicles in order to take a more hands-on approach to the art of designing the perfect theme park. Most of this action-oriented gameplay will originate at the ranger station, which is a structure that comes standard with a jeep and a chopper. You'll use both of these vehicles to chase and coral loose dinos, tranquilize them if they're on a rampage, or give them a dose of medicine if they become sick. These sequences add driving, flying, and even first-person shooter elements to what would otherwise be a straightforward park-building game."

The PC version is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2003,. The PS2 and Xbox shortly after, while the Game Cube version won't be out until the third quarter of 2003. Long wait. Judging from the pictures and the article though, it looks like this will be the best JP game ever. Please click here to read the full preview or here to view the pictures.

Neill Talks JP4!!!
Tue, November 5, 2002 23:59, posted by: Darth Maul
DarkHorizons.com reports the following:

Sam Neill was in Queenstown, New Zealand recently and 'Mark' got to speak him about the fourth 'Jurassic' flick: "Yeah, Steven Spielberg and his people are quite busy prepping another one. There is a chance you'll see me in it. I'm as surprised as anyone, because I didn't think there was any way they could get Alan Grant involved again. But they came up with a clever idea. Steven just blew me away with the story....something frightnening is happening concerning those dinosaurs that doesn't necessarily bode well for us humans. Scientists never seem to learn". What sort of tone can we expect? "You know that feeling when you first saw the original film, and you were so in awe, and felt so swept away and mesmerised by the sheer majesty of it all? I believe this premise has the potential to elicit that same kind of response. Out of all the concepts that've been created for these movies, this is possibly my favorite".

Scooper on Progress JP4!!!
Tue, November 5, 2002 23:49, posted by: Darth Maul
An unconfirmed scooper, who claimed to be involved with the JP4 production team, has the following information- take it with a grain of salt:

"One webpage claimed the movie was already in the can and ready for release by next year! Obviously this is in no way true. Jurassic IV is still in preliminary stages at the moment, and various script drafts are still being fine-tuned.

No, Steven Spielberg will not be directing this installment, contrary to what many websites are indicating. However, he's still extremely excited about the project and very much involved. At this stage, Steven is basically the one shaping the film, either giving the "thumbs-up" or "thumbs down" to conceptual drawings, models and ideas.

Steven has met with John Williams a couple of times to discuss JPIV. Whether or not he will score it himself, I do not know. It's really too early to seriously start writing music, if that makes sense. Yes, it seems highly likely that the finished script will include parts for Sam Neill (terrific actor), Jeff Goldblum, and Richard Attenborough. And no, Vince Vaughn has not been approached to be the lead in the film, nor was he ever considered".

More on JP4 Standee
Sat, November 2, 2002 0:26, posted by: Razzie
At long last I've been given permission to reveal where my new JPIV standee came from!

First off, as many people have already realised it isn't official and nor are the posters that go with it - Universal Studios most likely have no idea 'Nivu' exists and Amblin Entertainment are perhaps issuing my site's URL to their lawyers right about now.

The place I got the standee from is a place that not many people dare to enter - it came from the darkest, deepest reaches of my bored mind at the end of the Summer holidays.

Several months beforehand my entire JP collection had disappeared into storage and my non-JP life sucked. That is, until the day I got the idea to make my own standee and posters. With the help of Sainsbury's, the College's art store and my faithful laptop I was able to create the world's first (and so far only) JPIV standee and poster set. Originally the places I just mentioned wanted to remain anonymous because what I have done is bordering on the illegal, but they changed their minds when they saw the results.

I confess that 'Nivu' the JPIV standee was made by me a few weeks ago. I apologise to all those people who are now sitting at their computers saying 'Razzie, how could you?!'. I apologise even more to the people who wanted to buy it, and most of all I apologise to the webmasters who told their loyal fans about the release of a JPIV standee / logo test (i never submitted the news myself, it got there all by itself).

Please don't send abusive e-mails or post abuse on the Message Board. Don't lynch those genuine Visitors who spread the good news through the JP community. And whatever you do, please remember that all my other standees and posters are completely real.

The pictures here show Nivu from several angles and include close-ups of the JPIV logo and the lettering "Return To Chaos". There are no TM, Copyright or other logos anywhere, indicating that the standee is either concept art or fake.
Operation Genesis Interview
Wed, October 22, 2002 23:36, posted by: Darth Maul
Playstation.com recently had a Q&A with Andrew Heath of Blue Tongue Software, about the upcoming JP game. Here's a snippet from the article:

Can you briefly give us an overview of Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis?

"Our Jurassic Park game is a 'mission based world builder'. The game itself has two aspects - free play, and game missions. The free play environment gives you a blank canvas to work with, the opportunity to realise Dr Hammond's dream - build the greatest theme park in the history of the world - Jurassic Park. You are responsible for all aspects of park creation and maintenance, the objective being to expand and develop your dinosaur collection to give park visitors the best experience possible when they visit, whilst providing all the modern facilities they need."

Looks like a real winner! Please click here to read the whole interview, which reveals quite a lot about the game, including a nice surprise about a number of human characters.

Nivola says no to JP4
Sat, October 19, 2002 1:29, posted by: Darth Maul
October 16, 2002 - Actor and Cambridge, Massachusetts native, Alessandro Nivola (probably best-known for his performance as Pollux Troy in Jon Woo's Face/Off) isn't looking forward reprising his role as graduate student Billy Brennan in Jurassic Park 4 – that is, if the film goes into production. The glitch, it appears, is in his contract: to sign on for JP3, he had to commit to JP4. I asked Nivola for his thoughts on the Jurassic Park 4 situation during a recent conversation about his forthcoming film Laurel Canyon.

"So, what do you think? Are they going to go ahead with Jurassic Park IV?"

"You know, I tell you what," says Nivola, "I really hope not. I really hope not."

He adds, "I found that to be a..." (after a big exhale) "a really trying experience."

"Any particular reason?"

"Because it was..." Nivola gathers his thoughts. "It was like the only part I've ever done that just had nothing for me to latch on to, character-wise. And it was just," again, he exhales, and this time leans forward to where he puts his forehead almost on the table. He looks up, "It was kind of maddening."

"I have to say, Sam Neill got me through it," adds Nivola. "He got me through it because he played ukulele, and we could sit around in our trailers and strum Beach Boys songs." Laughing, he concludes, "And if it hadn't been for that, I would have gone out of my mind."

Alessandro Nivola will next appear onscreen opposite Frances McDormand, Christian Bale, Kate Beckinsale, and Natascha McElhone in Laurel Canyon, written and directed by Lisa Cholodenko

Thu, October 17, 2002 0:16, posted by: Darth Maul
CountingDown.com reports that in a Scottish magazine, film composer John Williams revealed that he has been asked to score "Jurassic Park IV" and "Indiana Jones 4" by Steven Spielberg.

"Well, I'm certainly busy as ever, which I enjoy. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is definitely in my future. Star Wars Episode 3 will follow that, which I'm very much looking forward to doing. It's like the completion of an epic journey. Then I'm back with Steven Spielberg for the fourth Indiana Jones, an exciting project that seems to have attracted incredible interest. Steven has also expressed his desire for me to score the next Jurassic Park film, which he is developing presently. It's a genre I would just adore to revisit, so I'll do my best to be available for it."

And proof again that jp4 is definately happening.

Besides this there are no new features or alterations to the set and it still doesn't have an English DTS track. What a bummer for European fans.

The Dinosaur, which was found in the Yixian formation near Beipiao City in northeast China, has buck teeth which makes it a very unique find. Here's a snippet from the article:

"Incisivosaurus is part of a group of dinosaurs known as oviraptors, small two-legged dinosaurs that had parrot-like beaks. Incisivosaurus, however, is the oldest oviraptor found to date and lacks the bird-like features found in others of its group, the researchers report in Thursday's issue of the journal Nature."

Staffers
Tue, September 17, 2002 20:26, posted by: Darth Maul
I would like to attend all the readers that there's been a slight change in our staff. Armothe has resigned from InGenOps to attend to his other duties. He was already working on several projects when he began his work here, so he decided to concentrate on those. At a certain point, we all have to move on to something else sooner or later. We here at InGenOps would like to wish him luck with his current activities and i'd like to add that we went our own ways as friends.

While Armothe left, two new faces have joined our staff. First of all there's Rhydan, who will be moderating our forums with her Raptor wits and agility. Then there's Razzie, who will be our main graphics designer from now on, as well as a mod on our forums and the maintainer of our upcoming JP memorabilia page.

The Crew/contact page has been updated with these two new staffers and i have added a picture of Razzie's collection to the Collections page, which you can view by clicking on the link to the left. Rhydan's bio and more will be added shortly.

On a sidenote, if you haven't done so already, please take the time to vote in our new poll. Also, the current CD Cardz competition is still open for submissions, so if you want to win a set, get your entry in!!! Last but not least, if you want to talk with other JP community members, please head on over to our Forums.

Halloween in IOA
Sun, September 15, 2002 22:38, posted by: Darth Maul
An InGenOps reader made a listing of all the things you can expect to see and fear when visiting Islands Of Adventure this year on and around Halloween. Here's what was sent to us:

"Halloween Horror Nights will be taking place in Islands of Adventure, or Islands of Fear, this year. Each Island will be themed and constructed differently.
Here's a rundown...

JP Extinction(Jurassic Park)
- Watch out for Half Human and Half Dinosaur
mutant creatures stalking the park and take a very dark special ride through
the JP River Adventure. Project Evil-lution will test your courage as you
travel through a jungle-like path while being stalked by mutants. Fear
Factor, a maze based on the hit CBS show, will appear in the Thunder Falls
Terrace.

Island of Lost Souls(Lost Continent)
- Lost Souls and Demons rule a world
of Fire & Darkness. The desolate castle queue of Dueling Dragons will also
be inhabitated for the first time.

Island Under Siege(Marvel Island)
- Super Villains have taken over the
Super Hero Island. Marvel will have it's own haunted maze based after the
ruler of Island Under Siege himself, Carnage.

Treaks & Foons(Toon Lagoon)
- A place where childhood Nightmares have come
to life. The insider rumors talk about a Scary Tales maze that would be a
revamp of a 2001 haunt. It will be placed in the queue area of Popeye and
Bluto. There will also be a new show, "Bill and Teds Excellent Halloween
Adventure", which will feature popular characters from todays TV shows and
movies.

Boo-Ville(Seuss Landing)
- "Twisted pathways to unexpected places". I've
been told not to expect much to happen here due to the "kiddie" nature of
the Suess environment. Seuss will be mearly a gateway on to the sound stages
where we'll find one or two major mazes.

Halloween Horror Nights will run for 21 nights this year, starting at 7pm
each night on: Oct. 4 & 5, 10-13, 16-20, 23-27, 29-Nov. 2."

Looks very fun! Too bad i'm a Dutchie! Luckily, Euro Disney will have their own special Halloween happening this year, so if you're not in the US or don't have the money to cross that big pond in the middle of the globe and can settle for less (we'll probably get axed for saying that), head on over to France. Thanks to Aqua Spinosaurus for sending us this great overview!!! If you have any Jurassic Park or Dinosaur related news you wish to share with the community, click here.

Remembering 9/11
Wed, September 11, 2002 23:13, posted by: Darth Maul
Exactly one year ago, the world was in shock after the terrorist attacks on the WTC in New York and our entire civilization. The peace and the freedom we worked so hard for seemed to fade in silence. It's one year ago now, but like many people, i can still remember it as if it was yesterday. On this day of mourning and honouring of the heroes that risked their lives, i would like to ask for a moment of silence and to always remember those that gave their lives for our freedom. Never take it for granted.

From all the staff here at InGenOps, we would like to wish all the people involved, all the strength in the world. May time heal all our wounds.

Clue on Origin of Flight
Sun, September 8, 2002 20:27, posted by: Darth Maul
A recent fossil find in China provides evidence that birds evolved from dinosaurs living in the trees rather than on the ground. Here's a snippet from the article:

"The dinosaur, Epidendrosarus in Latin, is believed to have been a juvenile about the size of a house sparrow, with a tail the length of its body. The first of its kind to be reported, the fossil has as its most distinctive feature an elongated third digit in the foreleg, not found on other known dinosaurs or birds."

This find will bring us one step closer to solving the origin of flight. To view this must read article, please click here.

JP4 coming in 2003?
Thu, September 5, 2002 22:41, posted by: Darth Maul
According to the Belgian magazine "De Jommekeskrant", Jurassic Park 4 is ready to begin production. It is stated that Spielberg said he would return to directing and that this installment of the JP saga would be sensational. They also mention Spielberg hopes to release it on JP1's 10 year anniversary. This seems a bit unlikely since there is way too much work to do on such a project, to have it finished in less than 12 months, so please take this with a grain of salt. To read the article (there is an English translation), please click here. Thanks to Jurassic Toys and Triceratops123!!! If you have any JP4 news/rumours, please send them in!!!

TV: Darwin's Evolution
Sat, August 24, 2002 1:08, posted by: Darth Maul
Starting this Sunday on National Geographic Europe, is a new seven-part series about Sir Charles Darwin's (1809-1882) evolution theory. The documentary which is called 'Evolution' will explore the ideas and observations made by this scientist, on his voyage around the world, in certain themed episodes which run a whopping 2 hours each! In one of these episodes, the question is raised where God's place is in all of this, a thing that was considered as blasphemy when Darwin lived. The first episode of this must-watch series (if you're into this sort of thing like me), will air at 9pm this Sunday in most European countries. For people living in the UK, the correct airing time is 10pm. I advice you to check your guides as the times may vary for some central European countries. Fossil Find May End Debate On Little T. rex
Sun, August 18, 2002 2:53, posted by: Darth Maul
The Seattle Times reports that a new fossil find may end the debate whether or not Nanotyrannus was a seperate species or a juvenile specimen of meat grinder Tyrannosaurus rex. Here's a snippet from the article:

"ROCKFORD, Ill. — A paleontology team from a small Rockford museum has unearthed a remarkably complete dinosaur skeleton that they believe will convince all doubters that Tyrannosaurus rex had a smaller cousin called a Nanotyrannus, or pygmy tyrant.

If confirmed, the discovery would resolve a major debate in dinosaur circles, as some scientists have argued that the Nanotyrannus actually was a juvenile T. rex. With at least one-third of its bones preserved, including the pelvis, leg bones, backbone and jaws, the new specimen is complete enough that it seems likely to settle the question".

JP Lego's & Fan Movie
Tue, August 13, 2002 1:42, posted by: Darth Maul
If you are into customs and building things with Lego, than you have to check out this site. I was attended to it by JP fan Fjmckeever, the creator. In the winter of this year, his site will be selling custom made Lego's from all three JP movies and, if you ask me, i have to say the product list looks very promising. A nice sturdy line-up of great characters, vehicles and Dinosaurs. Another neat site he attended me to, can be found here. It's all about an upcoming JP4 movie made by fans for fans. And yours truly (me), will be making some of the reference drawings for the Dinosaurs, that will be starring in the movie. A great honour in my opinion. We'll keep you updated on these nice projects from reader Fjmckeever!!!

No More CamoXtreme?
Thu, August 8, 2002 2:08, posted by: Darth Maul
Philip, the owner of Star Wars site Rebelscum, e-mailed us with some info about CamoXtreme. He mentioned that, according to Jason at Entertainment Earth, they are currently selling off their last waves of CamoXtreme. It is not known at this time if any more will be shipped to stores, but the chances are rather slim. So if you weren't able to score these at Wal*Mart (see our earlier coverage) or anywhere else, it might be a good idea to get these over at Entertainment Earth while you still can. One case costs $77.99 and contains 2x Jungle Spinosaurus with biting action, 1x Night Velociraptor with slashing action, and 3x Arctic T-Rex with biting action. That's only $12.99 each. If you wish to order a case, please click on EE's affiliate banner to the right and select "Jurassic Park" from the drop-down menu or simply search for "JP3 deluxe" on the main page to proceed directly to the item.

CamoXtreme Cheap & More!!!
Wed, August 7, 2002 1:13, posted by: Darth Maul
If you still haven't been able to get your Re-Ak-A-Tak Camo's, it might be worth it to visit your local Wal*Mart(s). A friend of mine in the US, dropped me an e-mail the other day, that he had found three hard to find Jurassic Park 3 toys and if i wanted to have them. I was expecting them to be wave 2 Dinosaurs, but the pictures he sent me, clearly showed the CamoXtreme Re-Ak-A-Tak Arctic T-Rex, Jungle Spinosaurus and Night Raptor!!! And it gets better, as the price was only $6 each!!! What a steal considering some of these went for $30+ on Ebay!!! Another great deal can be had at most Super Wal*Marts in the southeastern and northwest regions of the States, as they currently have ALL their JP3 stock on sale for only $4 each!!! This includes such expensive items as the Animatronic Spinosaurus and the Raptor Attack Playset. If you want to know more about this last sale, head on over to the Store Reports section by clicking on the link to the left or here. In case you wish to report any news or store reports, go right ahead. Thanks to Derek Howell and FightLikeApes for reporting this to us!!!

Dinosaur Tracks in Spain
Thu, August 1, 2002 22:19, posted by: Darth Maul
Last Saturday (yeah i know i'm a bit late with this), the Dutch newspaper "Het Nieuws van de Dag" reported that tracks of the more than 36ft (12m) long Titanosaurus, that have been found in Fumanya in Spain, can now be visited by everyone thanks to a "Ruta Minera". The tracks, which are rougly 60cm long, were created over 65 million years ago on a muddy coast. Many years later, with the creation of the Pyrenees, the ground with the fossilized tracks of approximately 30 Titanosaurids, was raised up to an almost vertical position. Another batch of tracks can be found in a quarry's nearby - and recently, even complete eggs of the creature were found, making this one of the few places in the world where you can find these fossils. Research with the aid of the tracks have shown that this Dinosaur walked a bit wide stanced. In October of this year, the Dutch museum "Naturalis" in Leiden will be hosting the exposition "Dino Argentino", where a real fossil of an Argentinian Titanosaurid can be seen. In case you wish to read this article yourself (it's in Dutch), click here to see a scan. In case you wish to visit the tracks in Spain, here's the info you'll need:

The tracks in Fumanya can be reached by taking the BV-4025 via the E9, in the direction of Figols and Fumanya. A twisty road goes up almost vertically adn right after kilometrepole 10, the the quarry with the tracks can be found at the right side of the road. The tracks can viewed best in the course of the afternoon, when the sun strikes over it.

New Pterosaur Found!!!
Sun, July 21, 2002 23:56, posted by: Darth Maul
Scientists in South America have found a new species of Pterosaur. The creature, which has been called Thalassodromeus sethi is a unique find due to it's remarkable crest. Here's a snippet from an article on Yahoo.com:

"The find is important both for the oddity of its cranial crest and for the insight that the animal offers into how pterosaurs hunted for food, the researchers said. They named it Thalassodromeus sethi (pronounced thal-ahs-oh-DROH-mee-us SETH-ee), meaning "sea runner" and "Seth," for the ancient Egyptian god of evil and chaos. "

InGenOps reader Aqua Spinosauus e-mailed us today, saying that the CamoXtreme Jungle Spinosaurus has been sold out over at ToyBliss.com. Currently all that's left on their site is the Arctic T-Rex. I took the liberty of dropping them an e-mail with the question if they are expecting more CamoXtreme in anytime soon. Here's what they told me:

"Thank you for your e-mail. At this time the only Jurassic Park toys we have on reorder that are confirmed are the CamoXtreme Night Raptor, Artic T-Rex and Jungle Spinosaurus but they have not yet shipped from Hasbro. We anticipate them shipping shortly but do not have a confirmed ship date as of yet.

Please keep checking with us.

That's certainly good news if you haven't snagged these up yet. In case you don't want to wait any longer, or don't want to take chances (you know what happened last time, right?), there's always our affiliate Entertainment Earth, which is selling these by the case and, may i add, at a cheaper price (only $12.99 each). One case costs $77.99 and contains 2x Jungle Spinosaurus with biting action, 1x Night Velociraptor with slashing action, and 3x Arctic T-Rex with biting action. Click on EE's affiliate banner to the right and select "Jurassic Park" from the drop-down menu or simply search for "JP3 deluxe" on the main page to proceed directly to the item.

New IOA Attraction
Thu, July 18, 2002 23:24, posted by: Darth Maul
In an article from Wednesday's "St. Petersburg Times", which you can find here, Islands Of Adventure President Bob Gault says they are planning a new attraction at the Universal theme park in 2004. "A thrill ride based on new technology... based on a movie you've seen before." Bob adds, "It'll be on the state-of-the-art level of our Spider-man ride based on new technology and a completely different type of experience than Spider-Man." Seeing as though the new ride is scheduled for 2004 and as Bob says "there may be a sequel to that film franchise come out the year we open the ride.", it looks as if this is indeed a confirmation that a fourth JP movie might be coming. Add on top of that, that Universal has said in the past they were working on a new attraction and that the only free space left is in the Jurassic Park area, this has got to be a JP themed ride. We'll keep you updated if more JP4 news comes in.

Belgium has cheaper figs!!!
Thu, July 18, 2002 1:21, posted by: Darth Maul
According to one of our readers, Belgium is currently the place to be in Europe to find dirt cheap Jurassic Park 3 figures. A store called "Kruidvat" has wave II's, i.e. Alan Grant 2, Paul & the Military Diver in for a mere €2.70 while another store called "Droomland" has the wave 1 figures down to only €0.50 each!!! What a steal if you are looking for these or just want some extra custom fodder!!! Thanks to JPfreak for letting us know. In case you have any JP or Dinosaur related news you wish to share with the community, please send it in.

Cheap JP3 Figs!!!
Thu, July 11, 2002 0:50, posted by: Darth Maul
A small reminder for the folks in The Netherlands, that may still be in search of the wave 1 JP3 human figures. "Blokker" stores currently have loads of these at only €3.99 each. That's more than 50% off. When i visited my two nearest stores, they had all of them in and, luckily, all were still mint. So if you need any of these to complete your collection or for customizing (they are great to harvest parts for Star Wars and other 3.75" figs), drop by a store now. Also, if you are into Star Wars, they also have several Episode I figures at only €2.29 each. In case you are looking to build yourself a Battle Droid army, now is the time to do it. I snagged myself a Battle Droid and a Jedi Duel Maul. So as you see once again, patience pays off at the end.

CamoXtreme available online!!!
Wed, July 10, 2002 13:34, posted by: Darth Maul
Now i know this may come in a bit late, but i thought i'd mention this anyway. Since the first word came out of a new JP3 series, people have been wondering about the fate of the CamoXtreme line of JP3 toys. First the toys were stated for release and even were available for pre-order on some sites and the next moment they were gone. After several weeks, the items were back-up, only to be removed again after only several days or even hours!!! After being in contact with several e-tailers, the word came in that Hasbro had cancelled the line due to marketing problems and that there would be no more items shipped. As you might now, prices on these items sky rocketed on Ebay as you can see here (hope you don't have any heart problems). But without any known reason(s), the items have re-appeared online and it seems as though they either weren't cancelled after all and were just hold up, or Hasbro changed their minds about the interest in the line and released them after all. *phew* Can you still follow?

Anyway, if you are interested in buying these items, head on over to ToyBliss.com for the Arctic T-Rex and the Jungle Spinosaurus, which both retail at $14.99 each. Or buy an entire case that consist of 2x Jungle Spinosaurus with biting action, 1x Night Velociraptor with slashing action, and 3x Arctic T-Rex with biting action at our affiliate Entertainment Earth for a total of $77.99. This is only 12.99 per fig and seeing as the Night Raptor is shortpacked and thus, hard to find, this is currently the best deal out there!!! In case you are interested in buying this case, click on EE's affiliate banner in the bar on the right and select "Jurassic Park" from the Shop by theme drop-down menu to head on over to the JP section. Don't forget to tell them we sent ya!!!

JP4 News!!!
Wed, July 10, 2002 13:02, posted by: Darth Maul
Dansjp3page.com reports that special effects fansite Bloody-Disgusting.com, had an interview with the man behind the Dinosaurs in JP, Stan Winston himself. The site says, "Next [for Winston] is Jurassic Park 4, according to Stan, the film is in it's scripting stage, and a very very early one at that, but it seems inevitable to happen in the very near future." While this sounds very sweet indeed, it is not known if this were Stan's own words, but still, this is great news for us JP and Dinosaur lovers!!! Bring on JP4!!!

Welcome to the New InGenOps!!!
Thu, June 20, 2002 23:50, posted by: Darth Maul
You have found your way to the new and much improved InGenOps!!! And boy, do we have some stuff in store for you!!! First of all we have a new layout! The layout works like this; the navigation is to the right. Here you can cruise through our different sections and if you scroll down, you can click on banners of other JP collecting sites that we highly recommend. Below those banners are a few "official" JP related sites. To the right, you can find our sponsors/affiliates where you can shop for JP goodies (check out the Raptor replica on EE!!!). Below that are banners of the communities we are members of and strongly support and below those banners *breathes* we have a poll, please vote now and after that i'll continue my chatter :p

Ok, i take it you voted? Good! Ok, on with what we've done. As you may have noticed, the navigation bar to the left has grown considerably.

The News/Updates section has been outfitted with a 'News Archive'. Articles that are not on this page, can be found there. Also note the two options above that; 'Submit News', which you can click when you have some Jurassic Park or Dinosaur related news that you wish to submit to us. Then there is 'Newsletter'. Use this when you want to join the, you probably figured this out already and will say "duh" when you've read it, the newsletter.

Then there is the Toy section, which a lot of people have been asking about. The JP, TLW and JP3 toy pages have been uploaded and are 85% finished. This means it has pictures of the toys, but no text yet (will be added later). And when i say pics, i mean 250+. When the CE and JPD pages are up, there will be 308 pics in total. And i still have 200 more that we will have to add a little later on, so that's 508 pictures when they are all up!!! Don't tell me you're not grinning from ear to ear right now. Also up, is a new checklist with all lines. Please note, that you will need a really fast computer to display it correctly.

Another new addition is the FanArt page in the FanStuff section. Soon, you will be able to view your own and other people's art. Check the FanArt page for more info.

Last but not least, there is the old messageboard (it's supposed to be posted on people! :p) and a new Crew/Contact section. Here you will be able to read about the people behind InGenOps!!!

So that is what is up right now and what you can expect in the very near future. After so many months of hard work, i need a vacation. So from where i am sitting now i would like to say enjoy this site and please check back whenever you can. I am off to Spain now, burning my bum off in the sun, see ya in a few days!!!

Sam Denies Spidey 2
Sun, June 16, 2002 0:00, posted by: Darth Maul
Dansjp3page.com reports that, according to an interview with Sam Neill in Sunday's Herald Sun, he is not set to play as Dr. Octopus in the upcoming Spider-Man 2. "It's news to me -- I know nothing!" he told the paper. So it appears as if IMDB.com was wrong about Sam's involvement in Spidey 2, but it could also be that he is just denying it because the producers demanded secrecy about their upcoming web-slinging superhero movie.

JPD Toys Found on Spanish Cards
Sat, June 15, 2002 17:58, posted by: Darth Maul
InGenOps reader and toy fanatic PygmyAllosaurus reports in with some very interesting finds in the US:

"I just recently learned of a KB outlet store in my area, and when I finally checked there tonight, I was in for a huge surprise. They had JP: Dinosaurs(the formerly Wal-Mart exclusive line), but not only that, but they're from Mexico! All the writing is in Spanish, and there's a sticker on the back with the information from Hasbro in Spanish.

But the weirdest thing: These are in JP3 packaging. The card bubbles and information on the back is exactly like the JPD line, but it's all on a red card with the JP3 Spinosaurus design.

Now, I've already bought all JPD, and have the originals of each of the repaints too, but I couldn't pass up having such unique MOC pieces to add to my collection. I ended up buying an Ornithosuchus and a Pteranodon, but they also had the Cyclops Raptor, T-Rex(broken leg), and Triceratops. I'd post pics, but I don't have a digital camera or a scanner. But I'm sure this can't be the only KB Outlet which has them, so I'm sure someone can back me up on this one(if you're not sure if there's a KB Outlet in your area, use the store locator on www.kbkids.com )"

He also mentions the figures retail for a mere $4.99!!!

Another InGenOps reader, Gallimimus, reports that he was e-mailed by someone offering him three of these up for sale (for a very big pricetag if i may add). Galli was so kind to sent us some pics as well!!! Here they are:

Junior T-Rex
Cyclops Raptor
Spanish Cardback

This is truly a great find. In case you missed out on some Jurassic Park Dinosaurs or just want something special in your collection, than this is your chance!!! Check your local KB Outlets and in case you don't live in the US, ask your friends to shop around for them!!! Thanks to PygmyAllosaurus and Gallimimus for sharing this with us!!! If you find anything interesting, drop us an e-mail!!!

Another JP Game coming?
Sat, June 15, 2002 14:10, posted by: Darth Maul
A month or so ago, i was browsing some gaming sites, when i stumbled upon this listing on EBgames.com. It shows that a Jurassic Park game called "JP: Evolution" is currently planned for a release on PC by Sierra. Since we haven't heard anything of this game in the past, i dug into it and after some searching, i decided to e-mail EBgames.com to find out if they could provide me with some information about this game. I received an e-mail, but at this time, all they know is that Sierra is manufacturing the game and that it should be out this fall. So after i learned this was not a mix-up with the other JP game, or at least according to the info i received from EBgames, i e-mailed Sierra software asking for information about this game and if they were indeed producing one at all. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything from them yet, so we'll just have to be patient to find out what's going on. Of course, we will keep you updated.

Review of JP3 Arcade Game
Fri, June 14, 2002 20:59, posted by: Darth Maul
Steve from JPAftermath got a chance to play the JP3 arcade game and wrote up a review. Here's a snippet:

"Ok, so I'd heard that the Jurassic Park III game wasn't exactly a masterpiece, and that I probably wasn't missing much, but naturally I couldn't wait to play it. In retrospect, I probably could've waited. Universal and Konami seemed to have teamed up to create a game with an uncanny ability to make you compare the JP3 game to the extremely cool TLW arcade game, and unfortunately, they are hardly comparable. Perhaps the only aspect of the game worth credit is the feel of nostalgia created by the graphics which are very, how should I put this, '96-esque?"

Horror on IOA
Fri, June 14, 2002 20:39, posted by: Darth Maul
JPAftermath reports that, according to a Universal press release, coming this October, Islands of Adventure -- the official home of the "real" Jurassic Park -- will be hosting Universal Studios' 12th annual "Halloween Horror Nights." Since the tradition began in 1990 the event has been held in Universal Studios, however this year Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) will be moved to Islands of Adventure, Universal's companion park. Halloween Horror Nights is an annual event at the park which combines the fright of a 'haunted house' attraction and the fun of a theme park. They also mention some interesting plans that Universal may construct a more ''adult version'' of the Pteranodon Flyers ride. Click here to read the full story on JPAftermath.

JP4 News!!!
Tue, June 11, 2002 14:26, posted by: Darth Maul
Spielbergfilms.com has some JP4 news posted on their site. The article mentions that Steven Spielberg will not be directing a fourth Jurassic Park movie, but does have plans to produce one with Universal. Here's what the site (and Spielberg) had to say:

"Q: 'Jurassic Park III' was such a huge hit that a fourth adventure would seem like a no-brainer. Will there be another sequel?

Spielberg: You're talking to the guy who has got to decide, and at this point I've pretty much decided to do a 'Jurassic IV'. Similar to the third Jurassic, I will not direct it. I would hope that I could get Joe Johnston to direct this one, too, but it's up to him. I'll certainly offer it to Joe before I offer it to anyone else. We actually have a wonderful story that I think is the best story since the very first movie. In fact, I wish it were the third story instead of the fourth one. It came late, but it is actually the best story I've heard for a dinosaur movie since the Michael Crichton book. And I'm not going to tell you anything about it. My lips are sealed."

Also, Dansjp3page.com reports that, according to the UK magazine "Total Film", Spielberg is considering Michael Crichton to write JP.

So there you have it, JP4 is indeed in the works and if Spielberg says they have a good story for it, you'd better believe it. We'll keep you updated!!!

More on new JP Game!!!
Thu, June 6, 2002 11:30, posted by: Darth Maul
If you wanted to know more about the new JP game, then here is your chance. Dansjp3page.com has been updated with more info on the game. Dan spoke with Blue Tongue's (the developer of the game) Andrew Heath for some more info on the game. Here's what he reports:

- I asked about the cancellation of "Survival" a few months back and whether or not Blue Tongue was required to build on the uncompleted technology that was in the work for that ill-fated game. Fortunately, Andrew reports the game is "our very own".

- This game will play like a cross between a traditional "Sim" game (like, say, "Sim Theme Park" or "Sim City"), and a more traditional action title. In the "Sandbox mode", you can create a park from scratch. "The main attractions are of course your dinosaurs," Andrew says. "You have to go out and search for fossils or amber, then sequence it to get the Dino DNA. Once you have 50% of Dino DNA, you can create the dinosaur, however lifespan will be short. You can extend this by getting more DNA. Once you have 100% DNA, you can then adjust it to modify the behavior of the Dinos in the DNA Lab." Obviously, you also are required to build enclosures and hatcheries and keep your guests happy (and alive).

- Within the sandbox mode, there are also "Action elements", according to Andrew. "You can, for example, drive the Land Cruiser on the Safari tour around the park... If your dinos start rampaging, then you will need to get into the Ranger Helicopter, and tranquilize them (you get to play the part of the ranger in the helicopter here)"

- The "Mission Mode" will consist of 12 missions where you'll be required to do certain tasks: "[Some missions have] basic goals of establishing park and getting a number of dino types etc, or having a good park rating, and some of the missions will use the action elements of the game - take control of the Land Cruiser, and drive it to safety before the T-Rex catches you... Or rescue the stranded visitors who have wandered from the path."

On top of that, Gamespot.com has some footage of the game available online. At the moment, you can only view a streaming video, but if you have a fast connection it isn't too bad. If you want to download it, you'll have to register with them (and pay for it). Click here to proceed to their site and to view this great, but rather low res video.

The game is being developed for X-Box, PS2 and PC, will be out in the fall of this year and will most probably be called Jurassic Park: Project Genesis, although Blue Tongue Software's pushing for JP: The Game. We'll keep you updated (as usual).

Sam Neill to star in Spidey 2?
Thu, June 6, 2002 10:54, posted by: Darth Maul
Dansjp3page.com reports today, that actor Sam Neill, better known to JP fans as Dr. Alan Grant, will be starring in Spider-Man 2. At least, according to the IMDB's Spider-Man 2 page. Unlike the hero in JP, Sam will be playing a baddie (Doctor Octopus) in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, which is currently in production and is set to come out in the summer of 2004. This could also mean that Sam might not be in the next JP seeing as how Universal and Spielberg are already rumoured to be working on the next installment of the Jurassic Park franchise. Please note that i said rumour and that it is still not official, but although very likely, that we will indeed get a 4th JP

CamoXtreme cancelled & JP3 Series 2?
Sat, June 1, 2002 22:58, posted by: Darth Maul
JPToys.com reports that Entertainment Earth received word from Hasbro, that the CamoXtreme line has been discontinued. Here's what they had to say:

"Unfortunately, at the present time, we do not anticipate any further shipments for this item. Word has it, Hasbro has discontinued this wave's production and it is no longer available."

Could this indeed be the last we've seen and heard from this line? Or is this another misconception? Only time will tell (and of course if time doesn't, we will:D).

JPToys also mentions that one of their board members, Mr_Goodbytes, has started a petition to let Hasbro know, that we would like to see a series 2 made in the JP3 line. If you wanna sign it -- and we know you want to, click here.

The game, which was first known as JP Genesis among others, seems to have lost it's name entirely and thus is now untitled. The game, which is being developed by Blue Tongue Software, lets players build and manage their own Dinosaur invested park. The game also offers 12 different and challenging missions in which players have to compete against nature and its most dangerous creatures. TLW Records get webbed
Wed, May 8, 2002 0:51, posted by: Darth Maul
Spider-Man opened a couple days ago and overthrew The Lost World's very last box office record still held. Spidey's $114.8 million easily surpassed TLW's former record of $72.1 million for a May 3-day opening, as well as Best Sunday Gross (formerly $26.1 million by TLW, now $31.8). It was hard to find a record that Spiderman did not beat this weekend, as it is now the fastest film to reach $100 million, highest single day receipts (for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), and best gross per theater (an amazing $31K). Now Spidey did web TLW, but will it web Attack Of The Clones, which will open May 16, or will it get "Forced" out? Thanks to Dansjp3page.com!!!

CamoXtreme On(the)line!!!
Mon, April 22, 2002 1:49, posted by: Darth Maul
Good news and bad news for JP toy fans. The good (which could be bad if you really hate repaints) news is that the CamoXtreme Deluxe Biting Dinosaurs are currently back up for pre-order on EntertainmentEarth. The case includes 2x Jungle Spinosaurus, 1x Night Velociraptor and 3x Arctic T-Rex and retails for $77.99. Click here to order or here to view the first ever picture of these (horrible) items. Now on to the bad news (which could be good etc). Mr_Goodbytes reported to JPTC, that he e-mailed EE about their removal of the Canyon T-Rex from their site. He received the following reply:

"Unfortunately, we were recently informed by Hasbro that this item has been officially cancelled. However, as with any cancellation, Hasbro can reverse their decision. If we are able to obtain this product, it will, again, be posted on our web site."

Looks like Hasbro might be in for a lot of reactions from angry collectors there, or satisfied if you really hated these toys anyway :D We'll keep you updated!!!

More JP4 Rumours!!!
Mon, April 22, 2002 1:26, posted by: Darth Maul
Movie scoop site E! Online has a small report up about a possible JP4. The article mentions that, apparently, Universal was unhappy with the way "Jurassic Park 3" turned out, even though it was a hit of T-rex proportions, with some $180 million in domestic box office. Universal and Jurassic Park's original director, Steven Spielberg, want to enlist Park author Michael Crichton for at least the story to guide the fourth installment. The site also mentions that Universal is going to pull a Dallas number ("It was all a dream...") and pretend the third movie never happened and end the series once and for all, with JPIV. Currently only Ian Malcolm and John Hammond are on the cast list. To read the entire article, click here. Before you do, please note that this is just a rumour and that means it is nothing more than speculation and could be total bull (pardon my language). Stay tuned to our site, when more news comes in, we'll be sure to report it! If you have anything to report, e-mail us!!!

JP3 DVD Collector's Edition
Sun, March 10, 2002 21:51, posted by: Darth Maul
No word yet on a Trilogy box here in Europe, but someone did find a very nice JP3 box set with some very cool extra's. Here's what reader Hanns Peter Glock has to say about his find:

It is available in some European countries ( Germany, France, Austria,... )
in nearly all bigger stores. I got it from Saturn ( a big Austro/German
market chain). It is between EUR 30 and EUR 36.

It comes in a cardboard box that is silver with 3 slashes ( you can look
through and see the shiny raptor pic - that is great ) contains:

two storyboard/ real movie pics
an original film cell (but I think it is the same in evey package )
1 really cool shiny raptor pic
1 certificate
1 JP3 DVD

It was made for collectors, but I don't understand why they didn't release
the jp trilogy box instead of this set here. I like it very much, 'caus it
has a really cool package and the film cell is very cool too. The
storyboard/original movie compare pics aren't that cool, but in high
quality.

Sounds very nice. In case you already have the other two movies, this would probably be a very good buy. But if you are living in Germany and don't care for the extra's, you can also buy the regular DVD for a price of only €21 at A&M (called "Weltbild") in Germany (for other great deals in this and other countries, please view our previous news coverage below). Click here to view this collector's edition and in case you wish to order it, click here to buy it over at Amazon.de. Thanks to HP for the great report!

Just one more week to go and JP3 will be out on video and DVD in that small country called The Netherlands. Although it's probably going to be a struggle to wait one more week, the bargains are already in. Blokker currently has a catalogue out which advertises that you can get the video for €13.99 and only €9.99 if you have two coupons, called "Dukaten". Same goes for the DVD, but the price is still a bit high going at €31.99 or €27.99 if you give them two of those coupons. Already in at Blokker and at a mere €4.99 each are the vids of the previous two Jurassic Park movies. So if you're into JP and still need all of them on regular VHS tape, you can get the whole Trilogy for a low €19.99!!! The video and DVD will be out on 7 March in Austria as well. Germans will be able to get it the day before. If you come across any other deals, drop us a line and we'll post it here!

T. rex Caught By Speed Limit
Thu, February 28, 2002 23:03, posted by: Darth Maul
Tyrannosaurus rex was a lumbering giant incapable of even breaking into a gentle jog, say two specialists in biomechanics. Their work suggests that the popular, Jurassic Park-inspired image of T. rex as an adept sprinter, capable of catching a speeding car, is artistic licence literally going a step too far. This article describes how they used a model to calculate what muscle mass an animal would need to run on two-legs, based on its size, weight and posture. Click here to read it. At the 22th flower exposition in Breezand, Noord-Holland in The Netherlands, the theme for this year is prehistory. The aim for this fair is to show off new products to possible retailers. In the years, it has grown out to something for the whole family with a different theme each year. With the recent release of a third Jurassic Park movie, the organizers chose prehistory as their theme. In between the flower beds, Dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures will be displayed which were made by a team of flower compositors. While this doesn't sound exciting, the next thing does. Also on display at the fair are several fossils from all around the world which only have been on display in several other European countries. Seeing as how the admission is only €5 for adults you can't really go wrong if you're in the neighbourhood anyway. The fair starts the 28th of February and runs to March 4th. No real news to report today, but nonetheless very interesting. Jurassic Park Database has (as the name suggests) an extensive database of the Jurassic park universe. One of the items i wanted to show to all of you are the JP and TLW cut scenes sections. Here you can read what could have been and what may have been. Also, in the TLW section you can actually download and view two scenes cut from the final movie. These are the famous boardroom and restaurant scenes. In my opinion, these should have been in it, but were cut due to unknown reasons. Especially the last one is very funny and a bit violent too (it makes you go 'ouch' at certain points). So if you are not into that sort of thing, don't view it. Click here to head over to JPDatabase.

Today i updated the FanFics section with another piece of fiction. This time "JP: In The Name Of Science", by reader Jacen Morrel. Head on over to read it. I also brought the Jurassic Park 3 section online. At the moment there isn't a whole lot to see, but it's still worth checking out if you're looking forward to the JP3 DVD or videotape. We have composed a (very short) list of release dates and we hope to be adding more, so if you know any, head over to that section and submit the information. We also listed links of sites that reviewed the JP3 or the JP Trilogy DVD's. If you think you can do a better job, then this is your chance to do it. Thanks to Jurassic HP for the dates he sent in!!!

Yup, you've guessed it, they are all repaints. Once again Hasbro thinks we're mad enough to buy them all. Well i for one am not. Click here to see them. Thanks to Oviraptor for the heads-up.

Re-Ak-A-Tak 2-Packs
Wed, December 12, 2001 13:18, posted by: Darth Maul
No, these are not new or anything, but very interesting if you want to save some cash for the holidays. These 2-packs are regular packaged Re-AK-A-Tak Dinosaurs packed together in a large cardboard tray and for a measly $13. One of our readers found these and more at his local K-Mart and here's what he had to say:

Anyway, at K-Mart, there were TWO AISLES filled with JP toys! They had the Poseable Spino, Poseable Raptor, all the Deluxe Re-ak A-taks, the vehicles and playsets, both Utra Re-ak A-tak Dinos, all the humans, the Anima Spino, EVERYTHING! Plus, there were two-packs! I had never seen any of those before. Anyway, there was one with the Brachio and Trike, one with the Tape and the Pack Raptor, and there were probably more that I didn't see. Anyway, the humans were $3.99 and the Ultra Re-ak A-taks were $19.99. I'm not sure how much the two-packs were. Anyway, I bought the Military Diver, the Ultra Alpha Pteranodon and the Tapejara and Pack Raptor two-pack. I've taken two pictures of the two pack, one of the front and one of the back.

Thanks to Cool_Bambiraptor for the report and the pics!!! If anyone else finds any interesting items or if you have something else to share, please let us know by sending an e-mail.

Two great shows are airing today. The first, titled SuperCroc is on National Geographic and is being broadcasted worldwide. It follows Paleontologist Paul Sereno and Reptile expert Dr. Barr on their search for a giant Croc that was as big as a bus, lived with the Dinosaurs and even ate them at times. The environment, behaviour, images of the animal as it lived millions of years ago (made with similar technologies as used in Jurassic Park) will be speculated about. The 2nd program is called Walking with Beasts and is a sequel to the successful Walking with Dinosaurs. In this series the mammals are the central characters and animals like the Indricotherium, Smilodon and even our ancestors will be talked about in depth. WWB will air in the US on The Discovery Channel today at 7 PM and 9 PM ET/PT. Check the sites for more details on content and airing times.

More About JP Survival
Sat, November 10, 2001 20:01, posted by: Darth Maul
After the bad news about Jurassic Park Survival for the PS2, i decided to e-mail Savage Entertainment to comment about the situation. Here's what they had to say;

Hi,

We were a bit bummed about it, too. Unfortunately, for legal reasons, I cannot comment on it much more at this point. I'm not sure if Universal still has plans to create a game from the franchise or when it could possibly get to market. Like you, we always felt that JP is a perfect world for a video game and we were looking forward to putting our mark on the franchise. Unfortunately, things don't always work out like you planned, especially in the rather topsy-turvy games industry. We learn too often in this industry that the publisher often lacks the experience or the long term vision to understand the development process. But I'm sure there will be a killer JP3 game out there eventually. It is just too good a universe to sit for long.

Hey, and thanks for keeping sites like yours going. Amazingly, we often turned to your site and Dan's site for information on the movie. You quite often got information on the movie before we did and we were working with them on the game! Great work!

So there you have it, thanks for your fast reply guys!!!

Now Accepting 'Fanstuff!!!'
Thu, November 8, 2001 1:34, posted by: Darth Maul
In case you were wondering when all the sections were coming up, i have very good news for you! As you read this, someone is working to correct the graphical problem we had, that made it impossible to keep all the pictures online. Basically, the whole Toy Section is finished, all it needs now are some graphics and approval of the other staff members and we're a go! While we do that, here's another treat just for you. I've been working on the other sections and i thought it might be a good idea to get started on the Fanstuff section. You are probably wondering; "what the heck is fanstuff?". Well, i can be short with that, it's stuff made by fans for fans. The best part of it, is that we are accepting submissions right now and will be happy to add them for as long as we live.

So what belongs in this section? Well, first of all there's the Collections segment. Here you can showcase part of your collection, tell people something about it - where you got that special toy or piece - and it might also be fun to show people the person behind the collection. Then there's the Diorama section, which needs little or no explanation. Next is the FanArt segment, where you can show people your Jurassic Park and/or Dinosaur drawings. Please note that we only accept original work, no copies or digitalized work and that the minimum entry is 3 drawings. For the writers among us, there's the FanFics segment. If you have any serious written and original work you may submit it to this section for everyone to read. Please note that we will review and inspect the content and that we have the right to reject it if they are a sexual or of a very violent nature. Last but not least is the FanVids segment. Here you'll be able to submit your homemade video's of your favourite Dinosaurs or JP toys in action. Heck you can even make a life action movie if you want to!

If you've read all this and suddenly feel the urge to get your equipment, get to work and send us something, please click here and include the name of the segment you wish to send in an entry for, with that your name and - if appropriate - the name of the entry. As a reminder, we are still accepting worldwide Store Reports and News articles if you have any.

Creatures like the Wooly Mammoth, Sabertooth Tiger and more strange looking creatures will be featured in this series showing how they survived in a different world and at a different time. Walking with Beasts will air starting November 15 on BBC1. Click here to visit the official WWB site.

But that might have been changed by now. Raptor1982 of Jurassic Toys received a report and a scan of a Belgian toy catalogue which clearly shows a picture of the RC Spinosaurus priced at 54,36 Euro's and the Electronic Eggs for 12 Euro's. No Ultra Pteranodon in Europe?
Sat, September 29, 2001 23:25, posted by: Darth Maul
A rumour has been circling around that the Ultra Re-Ak-A-Tak Ptera might not end up on European shelves after all. Whether or not this rumour was true hasn't been confirmed, until now. Jurassic Toys got their hands on two Hasbro order catalogues, one from Spring and a second one from Autumn, if you click the links, you'll see that Hasbro removed this great (and possibly the most anticipated) toy from their lists. Although it might end up in stores anyway, that seems to be very unlikely.

Raptor1982 from Jurassic Toys reports that he found a drawing of the original JP3 ATDT in Hasbro's French 2001 catalogue. The original was supposed to be the same as the JP Bush Devil Tracker, but with some modifications. If you want to see the picture, click here. Here's a translation of the text:

This all-terrain vehicle is perfect to hunt dinosaurs! It is electronic and has light and sounds to attract the dinosaurs. It is equipped with a capture net that is activated by the front of the vehicle. An arm on the side makes it possible to maintain captured dinosaurs. One dinosaur and figure included.

A Moment Of Silence
Tue, September 11, 2001 23:41, posted by: Darth Maul
As everyone might know by now, the United States of America was deliberately and cowardly attacked by terrorists this morning. Between 9 and 9.30 am Eastern US time, 2 hijacked airliners crashed into the World Trade Center towers in Manhattan, New York. Another plane went down in Washington DC destroying a wing of the Pentagon. A 4th plane went down, enroute to it's target near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Shortly after the first 2 planes went down the first tower of the WOTC collapsed, after that the 2nd went down. At this moment all the air traffic in or towards the US has been halted. I would like to ask for 2 minutes of silence on behalf of the people that died today or lost a loved one. May this be the last of terrorist attacks against man.

New Spinosaurus/Pteranodon Set(?)
Sat, September 1, 2001 3:18, posted by: Darth Maul
I was browsing through some sites when my eye catched this item over at Amazon's online store. The set is due out October 15 and will retail for $21.99, but what is it? A 'battle' 2-pack maybe? Or a variation to the Battling Rex and Spino game? If anyone knows what this is, please drop me a line, because i for one am very curious.

Walk Like A Dinosaur
Thu, August 30, 2001 2:20, posted by: Darth Maul
A very interesting story on ABCNews.com describes how a scientist is trying to find out how a giant Theropod like the Allosaurus would have moved. Here's and excerpt from the article:

In an effort to understand how nimbly the ancient creatures moved, biologist David Carrier designed a backpack that would make the wearer feel something like an adult Allosaurus, a class of carnivorous theropods that dominated Jurassic North America.

Aqua Spinosaurus Review!!!
Thu, August 30, 2001 2:12, posted by: Darth Maul
After Logosaurus' awesome pics i can now present you with his review of the Aqua Spino. More to come very soon!!!

This is the Spinosaurus that everyone's been waiting for. This is the dinosaur worthy enough to take the Tyrannosaur's place in the Jurassic Park 3 logo. This toy is AWESOME. The Wave 1 RE-AK A-TAK Spinosaurus, while a decent toy, did not live up to my expectations. So when I finally found the "Spinosaurus Aqua Attack" after weeks of searching, I was ecstatic. The paint job on this toy is beautiful, an off-white underbelly with a pale maroon back. Each spine on the now-to-porportion sail is painted with a shiny blue stripe, and the eye is a vivid green. The detail on this figure is simply incredible. You can clearly see every scale, the folds and twists in the skin, and the musculature beneath it. The mouth is permanantly open, unlike it's predecessor, but this doesn't really subtract from the toy. The RE-AK A-TAK feature is like that of the Alpha Velociraptor or Dilophosaurus. The sounds are the same as those from the regular Spinosaurus, which is the only drawback. Oh well. The poseability is great, and, like most of the other JP3 dinosaurs and figures, the Aqua Spinosaurus can stand on it's own two feet without any other support. Definatly the best Spinosaurus figure. Too bad the Animatronic Spinosaurus wasn't this cool. I'd give this figure a 10/10

Thx Logo!!!

New JP3 Product!!!

KBkids.com posted a new JP3 Product up for sale that was previously unknown of. The new product is the Remote Control Spinosaurus. Yes you heard that right, another one. While i have seen pictures of this toy before on another site, it was always labeled as the Animatronic Spinosaurus, which it resembles to the detail (had me fooled as well) even the price is the same.If you are interested in viewing or buying this great looking Dinosaur, click here.

Looking for Sponsors!!!
Tue, August 21, 2001 15:30, posted by: Darth Maul

We're looking for sponsors to 'aid' our site. To make sure we can bring our readers all the news and updates they deserve we'll need to find a new home to store our files on. Hopefully we will find one soon so we can bring the whole toy section online and with that, the 120+ pictures we have currently stored on our harddisks. These pictures include many toy and prototype pictures. Besides the extensive toy guide we would also like to offer a Dinosaur database covering all the species known to science. If you are reading this and would like to know some details about our site or if you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please feel free to e-mail me by clicking here.

Tapejara Review!!!
Tue, August 21, 2001 15:17, posted by Jackson's Chameleon879

The Animal:
Description: A pterasaur with an attitude. This guy has a large triangular crest over it's beak, which was probably used for mating. It ate fish and carrion. It had a wingspan of 5 metres. The fossilized remains have been found in Brazil

The Toy:
Looking very much like the regular Re-Ak-A-tak Pteranodon at first , but when you take a closer look, this toy is in many ways more different. The head is a retooled Re-Ak A-Tak Pteranodon, but that is the only re-used part in this toy, other than the sounds. The body is a little fatter than the Re-Ak-A-Tak Pteranodon, and the feet are sprawled out, instead of being grouped together. I think the best part of this toy is the wings, they are curved up and look very real. Also, what won me over was the color, this thing has a beautiful metallic blue on the the body, part on the head, and top part of the wings, and the feet.running from the tip of the snout to the base of the neck is a yellow strip, and on the edges of the wings there is a nice lime green, the underbelly is mostly white and most of the wing on the underside is green. It makes the same sounds as the Re-Ak-A-Tak Pteranodon, which is a major drawback.and the dino damage is in the same place as the Pteranodon, only one vertibrae is sticking up tho.

Summing it up:
Color:A+
Sounds:C-
Body:A
Wings:A+
Head:B
Feet: A-
Dino Damage: B-
Overall: A+!!!!

JP3 Toys at TRU (The Netherlands)
Tue, August 21, 2001 15:01, posted by: Darth Maul

I was at the Toys 'R' Us in Alkmaar last Friday where i picked up a Re-Ak-A-Tak Pteranodon (last one there)and a Dilophosaurus. I also found the others except the Spinosaurus which was unfortunately sold out. They still had around 6 of the others though so if you need them it might be worth going there. Besides the Re-Ak-A-Tak's(fl 44,95) and the human figures(fl 19,95)they also had the Raptor Motorcycle Pursuit and the Air Heli-Sabre set for fl 64,95 each, very expensive to say the least(all prices are in Dutch Guilders, use the Currency Converter below to convert the prices if desired).

Microraptor picked up the new Jurassic Park 3 Stalking Raptor for $15 at the KB in Moorestown Mall, New Jersey (USA) and sent a few pics along for our enjoyment. The Stalking Raptor is out in stores now and has great features: when you blow the included Raptor skull whistle, the Raptor will start to "stalk" his prey and roar in the process. Sounds very cool indeed. Thanks Microraptor!!!

Toys 'R' Us only store for JP3 Toys in Holland?
Tue, August 7, 2001 2:46, posted by: Darth Maul

As it appears now the only place to get your JP3 toys is Toys 'R' Us. According to Intertoys and Bart Smit it is highly unlikely that they'll ever stock them. While there is a chance that this is true i'd advice everyone to take this with a grain of salt. Not all employees are as well informed as they'd want you to think. For the people that want to get their toys now, head over to TRU, they currently have the following items stocked and new items are enroute: Basic figures fl 19,95 each, Re-Ak-A-tak Dinosaurs fl 44,95 each and Vehicle Assortment fl 64,95 each(note that prices are all in Dutch Guilders).

Store Reports
Sat, August 4, 2001 16:38, posted by: Darth Maul

To aid our readers in their quest to find toys or other JP merchandise we thought it would be a good idea to create a special feature on our site. This feature is called the Store Reports and will be a good place to check if the item you need is available in your area or counrty. But to make this work we are asking for our readers to contribute. If you've spotted a new item or a gigantic bargain, send it in and we'll post it in this special section. If you do, don't forget to include where you found the item (in which store, which country etc), how much it was and if possible send a scan or a picture along (in case of a newly released or discounted item). If you want to contribute, please click here and use 'Store Reports' in the subject line.
